Have you made your New Year’s resolutions yet?
Squidoo.com says the most common resolution is to quit smoking, while getting fit takes the number two spot and losing weight ranks third.

Enough people typically resolve to “enjoy life more” to give that the number four spot. A number of folks annually vow that their champagne toast at midnight will be their last alcoholic beverage, as “quit drinking” rounds out the top five.

Other popular resolutions include getting organized, learning something new, and getting out of debt. Spending more time with family and helping others are also among the top ten.

What’s YOUR New Year’s resolution?

The Obamas are the choice of 14-percent, which puts America’s First Family at the top of Zillow.com’s “Most Desirable Neighbors for 2010″ list.

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia DeRossi are tied with Sarah Palin for second place, with each earning a nod from 12-percent of respondents.

Nine-percent would like country-pop star Taylor Swift  as a neighbor, and seven-percent would pick Oprah Winfrey.

Troubled golfer Tiger Woods and NFL star Tom Brady and his wife Gisele Bundchen are tied to round out the top five.

What celebrity do YOU think would be a good neighbor?

Hollywood gave itself one heck of a Christmas present this year: the single best day in the history of the box office. The weekend’s slate of movies racked up a record-setting $278 million overall haul, with James Cameron’s Avatar ($75 million) leading the charge. The sci-fi epic dipped an incredibly slim two percent in its second weekend, bringing its 10-day domestic total to an impressive $212.3 million.

Not that newcomer Sherlock Holmes (no. 2, $65.4 million) had a bad weekend, either. The action-adventure pic from director Guy Ritchie scored the best-ever Christmas weekend debut, adding another notch to star Robert Downey Jr.’s box office belt. The weekend’s other new wide releases, the animated Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel (no. 3, $50.2 million) and the Nancy Meyers rom-com It’s Complicated (no. 4, $22.1 million) connected soundly with two very different demographics. While the Chipmunks got kids and families dancing into theaters, Complicated stars Meryl Streep, Alec Baldwin, and Steve Martin drew adults in the mood for a (tastefully) R-rated romp.

Results were mixed for the two Oscar contenders that expanded into wider release this weekend. Up in the Air (no. 5, $11.8 milion) flew straight to the top five by adding 1,720 new theaters, but the awards-bait musical Nine (no. 8, $5.5 million) only mustered a so-so $3,926 per-site average. Meanwhile, Terry Gilliam’s The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus opened well at four sites, earning $130,000.

Have you seen any of these movies? Post your opinion below.

There are as many ways to ring in the New Year as there are people.  My Dad believed that cooking ham and cabbage with a dime in the pot would bring him financial success in the upcoming year.  Others make sure they plant a big kiss on there loved one as the ball drops to ensure they remain together over the next year.  In Japan people laugh as the new year begins, as they believe this will bring about good luck.  Tell us how you celebrate the New Year, no matter how strange it may be, by simply clicking ‘leave a comment’ in the header just above this post!
